Hospice & Palliative Care

Providing care for patients.

Four Seasons has been offering services to people in Henderson County and surrounding areas for over 25 years. It is our goal to meet the needs of all individuals who have a serious life-limiting illness.

What is hospice? Hospice is an interdisciplinary approach to providing care for patients at the end of life that focuses on pain and symptom management. Comfort is the primary goal.

Who is eligible for hospice? Anyone who has a physician order or referral and who has the diagnosis of a terminal illness as certified by that physician to have a prognosis of six months or less is eligible for hospice services.

Where can hospice care be provided? Hospice care can be provided in a private home, nursing facility, assisted living facility, hospital or in our inpatient facility – Elizabeth House.

Are there any restrictions with hospice care? Yes, hospice patients may not receive curative/life-prolonging treatment at the same time as hospice care. Hospice patients may be unable to use Medicare skilled days for payment of long term care or hospitalization.

What is palliative care? Palliative care is an interdisciplinary consult service which focuses on providing care for patients with serious illness. Services can be provided at the same time as curative/life-prolonging treatment, if desired.

Who is eligible for palliative care? Anyone who has a physician's order and whose diagnosis of a serious illness is eligible for palliative care.

Where can palliative care be provided? Palliative care can be provided in a private home, nursing facility, assisted living facility or in a hospital.

Are there any restrictions with palliative care? There are no restrictions with palliative care. Patients may continue to receive curative/life-prolonging treatment.
