Meet Our ProvidersTodd Neel, RN, FNP-C Todd Neel, RN, FNP-CTodd Neel, RN, FNP-C, earned his bachelor’s degree in English and German from Vanderbilt University in 1986 and worked for several years as a schoolteacher and science writer before returning to Vanderbilt for a master’s degree in nursing, which he earned in 1996. He chose to train as a family nurse practitioner, with skills for health care across the lifespan, in order to be able to work in a variety of positions over the course of his career. He first took a position at Blue Ridge Community Health Services in Hendersonville, NC, working with the early adolescent population in a school-based health center. He eventually assumed the directorship of the school-based health program and developed an approach to identifying adolescents with significant risk factors for obesity-related chronic disease development which he presented at several state and national conferences. He then transitioned within the same agency to their family practice, providing comprehensive health care to a varied population of adults and children, studying Spanish in Mexico to be able to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients who made up more than half of his practice. In 2008 he joined Four Seasons as a palliative care nurse practitioner, spending most days visiting patients in their home. He enjoys seeing patients in their home setting and helping them and their families to cope with serious chronic illnesses, and he especially enjoys learning about the life experiences of patients born in the teens, twenties, and during the Great Depression. |
