Virginia “Ginna” Templeton, MDVirginia “Ginna” Templeton, MD

Virginia “Ginna” Templeton, MD, is a staff physician at Four Seasons. She joined their team in 2006 as a collaborative effort between Four Seasons and MemoryCare to provide excellent end of life care to those with dementia. As a family physician, she is dedicated to the care of people of all ages and is very happy to work in a setting that prioritizes care of everyone affected by a person’s illness to ensure quality of life is as good as possible.

Ginna was born and raised in the South but moved to the Northeast for college. She received her BA in Medical Anthropology from Brown University and spent almost a year in Kenya learning the practices of birthing attendants in rural communities. She worked in the Bronx, NY from 1988-1994 with people with HIV/AIDS and graduated from the State University of the New York School of Medicine in 1998 with a Doctor of Medicine. She returned South to complete her residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC and after graduation focused her practice on the care of older adults with memory disorders. She is currently Associate Director of MemoryCare, a nonprofit organization providing care to those with memory disorders and their families.

Ginna is Board Certified in Family Medicine with Added Qualifications in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She holds an adjunct faculty appointment from UNC School of Medicine and is committed to education of professionals and others in the community about healthy aging and issues related to cognitive health.

She enjoys time with her husband and their two children and likes to read, cook, and garden. She is learning how to build a dry stack rock wall.
