Palliative Care Provider
David Troxler, MD

David H. Troxler, MD joined Four Seasons in the summer of 2010 as a consultant in palliative medicine.
Dr. Troxler currently contributes to the Four Seasons palliative care team at Mission Hospital. His clinical experience is extremely helpful in caring for patients and families who are stressed with serious illness, but it is his compassion and good communication skills that make him an ideal physician for palliative care.
A graduate of Davidson College and Duke University School of Medicine, where he was honored by selection into the AOA Medical Honor Society, Dr. Troxler is a well-known member of the Asheville medical community and was a partner with Asheville and Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates for 27 years. Prior to his joining his pulmonary practice in Asheville, he had served as a research scientist at the Laboratory of Tumor Virus Genetics at the National Institutes of Health, and was the author of numerous scientific publications. He has received board certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He was the president and CEO of Asheville Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates from 1999-2006. He has also been medical director of the Respiratory Care Department at Mission Hospital and the Medical Director of Critical Care. He has been recognized as one of the "Best Doctors in NC" by the Business North Carolina Magazine from 2004 to 2010.
Dr. Troxler said, "I felt this was a real opportunity for me to use my experience in the practice of pulmonary and critical care medicine as a valuable asset in helping patients and their families deal with the complex medical, social and psychological issues which arise with life-limiting and critical illness. Dr. Troxler lives in Asheville with his wife Kathy, has two daughters and is a proud grandparent. In his spare time he is the lead vocalist and guitar player for a local bluegrass group, The Redeye Ramblers.
